Aim of Course:
A Retail Security Course may include the following key components:
- Customer Service in Retail Security: Training on providing effective customer service while maintaining security protocols in a retail environment.
- Loss Prevention Techniques: Learning strategies to prevent theft, shoplifting, and other forms of loss within a retail setting.
- Surveillance and Monitoring: Instruction on using surveillance systems, CCTV cameras, and other monitoring tools to enhance security in retail spaces.
- Conflict Resolution: Developing skills in peacefully resolving conflicts and handling difficult situations that may arise in a retail setting.
- Emergency Response in Retail: Training on responding to emergencies such as fires, medical incidents, or security breaches within a retail environment.
- Communication Skills: Enhancing communication skills to interact effectively with customers, colleagues, and law enforcement when necessary.
- Legal and Ethical Considerations: Understanding the legal framework and ethical considerations specific to security operations in the retail sector.
- Access Control: Learning how to manage access control points, including entrances and exits, to ensure the safety of customers and staff.
- Risk Assessment in Retail: Identifying and assessing potential security risks associated with the retail environment.

In compliance with regulatory guidelines set forth by all SETAs (Sector Education and Training Authorities) and PSIRA (Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority), all students must undertake their summative assessments, which are closed book exams, at the designated training centre as prescribed.
